Manchester Safeguarding Partnership website

The Manchester Safeguarding Partnership is a statutory body made up of organisations that work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of adults, children, young people and their families.

Our role is to coordinate and ensure effective safeguarding across the city of Manchester.

Our Partnership

This website brings together information for adults, children, young people and their families; the practitioners and volunteers who work with them; and the community of Manchester, including businesses, who want to help us achieve this aim.

We recognise the need for a joined-up ‘think family’ approach to enable us to reach the highest standard of safeguarding for Manchester.

Affiliated Boards

We are affiliated with a number of other boards and bodies, details of which, along with the Manchester Inter Board Protocol, can be found in our Affiliated Boards resource.

Communications and Engagement

We recognise the importance of effective and meaningful communication and engagement to keeping people safe in Manchester.

Our Communications Strategy has been developed to take into account our duties, as well as the aims and objectives from our business plans and risk registers. Find out more in our Communication & Engagement resource.

Learning and Development

We need to ensure that practitioners continue to learn and develop; and in particular learn from practice.  Find out more in our Learning Hub.

Our Learning and Development function provides practitioners and volunteers with the advice and information they need to obtain training and development.

Our Learning from Practice activities look at the outcomes from a range of reviews and audits, locally and nationally and how we can use these valuable lessons learnt to improve our practice.

Manchester Safeguarding Standard

We expect all providers and commissioners of services for adults with care and support needs and children in Manchester to adhere to the Manchester Safeguarding Standard.

This Standard represents the minimum standards expected and can be found in full in our Safeguarding Standard resource.

Quality assurance and performance improvement

Multi-agency quality assurance and performance improvement activities are key functions and allow us to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of what is done by our partners individually and collectively to safeguard and promote welfare; and for us to advise on ways to improve. Find out more in our QAPI resource.
