Invitation to Attend AFRUCA Consultative Meeting on Child Protection in Faith and Community Groups

AFRUCA Safeguarding Children will host a special online Consultative Meeting on Tuesday, 13 February 2024 to explore role of faith organisations in the protection of children in Black and ethnic communities across the UK. Our interest in this subject is based on evidence from our work at AFRUCA Safeguarding Children, reported child abuse cases in the media linked to faith organisations, known court prosecutions and convictions of some faith leaders and first-hand accounts of victims and survivors.

The consultative meeting would be a platform for professionals, faith organisations and the general community to deliberate on child protection gaps in faith organisations and how to enhance the safeguarding of children in faith settings. An idea being proposed is the establishment of AFRUCA Faith and Community Child Protection Network to help advocate, build capacity and support members’ activities around child protection across the country. We would like to seek participants’ views on this proposal.

This is an online event taking place on zoom. Registration to attend is compulsory.

Date: 13 February 2024

Time: 2:00pm to 3:30pm

Venue: Online on Zoom
